  1. Early Childhood Care and Education It is a support for Universal Elementary Education (UEE). Government departments and voluntary agencies, involve urban local bodies and gram panchayats in it.
  2. Project for Integrated Education Development (PIED) A joint venture of the MHRD and UNICEF aiming to integrate children with disabilities in regular schools.
  3. Integrated Education for the Disabled Children (IEDC) Centrally sponsored. Children with disability get the following facilities in regular schools:

    1. Actual expenses on books and stationery

    2. Actual expenses on uniform

    3. Transport allowance.

    4. Reader allowance in case of blind children after Class V

    5. Escort allowance

    6. Actual cost of equipment and aids per student for a period of five years

    7. For children with locomoter disabilities, one attendant should be there for 10 children.

    8. Hostellers with disabilities may be paid boarding and lodging charges.

    9. They may need the assistance of a helper or an "ayah" whose pay is admissible to any employee of the hostel willing to extend such help.

    10.It is mandatory to remove barriers. Schools would also be provided grants for it.

  4. District Primary Education Project (DPEP) Covers 60 per cent of the child population.
  5. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Provides assistance to states with ‘zero rejection policy’. Has a provision for the inclusive education component @ Rs.1200 per child with special needs per annum.
  6. Inclusive Education for Disabled at Secondary Stage (IEDSS) Assistance for:

    (i) Medical and educational assessment, books and stationery, uniforms, transport allowance, reader allowance, stipend for girls, support services, assistive devices, boarding the lodging facility, therapeutic services, teaching learning materials, etc.

    (ii)Appointment of special education teachers, allowances for general teachers for teaching such children, teacher training, orientation of school administrators, resource room, barrier free environment.
